Grand opening of the Philharmonia's museum happened in 1997. It coincided with the 60th anniversary of establishment of the Tatar State Philharmonia. The idea of the museum establishment belongs to the People's Artist of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan Ilgam Shakirov.

G.G. Galiakhmetova was appointed the first museum director, from 1999 to 2005 and from 2012 to the present day the museum director is A.A. Khakimova. F.F. Kaveeva was the museum director from 2005 to 2012.

The main museum's task is gathering and storage of the Philharmonia's history materials, and their presentation to visitors. This is carried out via both permanent museum exhibition and various travelling museum exhibits organized for different concert and thematic programs and anniversary nights of Philharmonia’s artists: the 90th birthday anniversary of composer F. Yarullin, the 90th birthday anniversary of singer U. Almeev, the 80th birthday anniversary of singer J. Salyakhova and many others.

In 1998 the Philharmonia's museum together with the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Union of Writers of the Republic of Tatarstan held two commemoration meetings dedicated to the 90th birthday anniversary of elocutionist and conferencier A. Yagudin.

In honour of the 70th birthday anniversary of the People's Artist I. Shakirov a museum exhibit dedicated to life and work of the outstanding Tatar singer was put on in the lobby of the Philharmonia's concert hall.

In February 2006 the G. Tuqay Tatar State Philharmonia organized an anniversary night dedicated to the 100th birthday anniversary of composer A.S. Klyucharev in the S.Saidashev Big Concert Hall, and for the first time the museum presented archival materials given by relatives of the composer. Particularly valuable among them is a series of pre-revolutionary, yellowed with age pictures of A.S. Klyucharev's parents before their marriage, family portraits made in Rembrandt Photostudio in Orenburg, picture of the composer as a child, rare, previously not published and little-known pictures of him in the twenties and the thirties years of the last century, and Employment List (nowadays - an Employment Record Book) of A.S. Klyucharev's father - Sergey Danilovich, who was an accountant and a chief accountant in the Tatar State Philharmonia within the period of 1942-47.

This time had passed, and signs of this time are left only in dark photographs and documents.

In March of the same year during N. Rakhlin Musical Festival (dedicated to the 100th birthday anniversary of the conductor) they organized an exhibit of The Philharmonia's museum holdings, photographic exhibition of V.Zotov captured the great maestro from the first rehearsal (April 1966) to the day of his farewell (June 1979); vintage posters with the name of N. Rakhlin from collection of music expert G.Kantor were also presented there.

In June 2006 the Philharmonia's museum holdings got new showpieces from Natan Rakhlin private museum in Miskhor: one of sticks the maestro was using during first rehearsals and concerts in Kazan; Symphony Songs' sheet music of N. Zhiganov with the author's signature; white concert shirt of the conductor; gypsum bas-relief of Rakhlin made by his grandson sculpturer I. Lysenko who made a donation of all these items to the Philharmonia's museum.

Museum holdings continue growing due to family heirlooms given by relatives of the Philharmonia's artists. The remarkable example is a great collection which was carefully preserved and given to the museum in 2006 by relatives of Tatar actor, magician and manipulator, father of this genre in our republic Khai Mushinsky, the 105th anniversary of which was celebrated in 2013.

The museum holdings keep and enlarge printed publications about concert life of the Philharmonia's artists. The Regional Natural History Department of the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan administers substantial aid in selection of journal and newspaper materials.

Various showpieces, dedicated to history of creation and nowadays activities of artistic groups and solo performers of the G.Tuqay Tatar State Philharmonia, are exhibited in the lobby of the Philharmonia's concert hall during the whole concert season.

In 2006 in the course of the concert of the State Folklore Music Ensemble of the Republic of Tatarstan dedicated to the 120th anniversary of G. Tuqay, there was a joint exposition of the Philharmonia's museum and the Gabdulla Tuqay Museum in the lobby of the concert hall. Spectators could see stunningly made seal of G. Tuqay (author: N. Nakkash), scenic pictures and wood carving based on fairy tales of the great Tatar poet.

To enlarge the museum holding video records and pictures are made during philharmonic concerts. They are the basis of creation the museum's sound and video picture library.

A photo gallery of outstanding artists of the Tatar State Philharmonia throughout its history was created in the lobby of the Philharmonia's concert hall for the 75th anniversary of the main concert organization of the republic.

The museum's members participated in publication of anniversary books about the Tatar State Philharmonia and booklets dedicated to the 100th anniversary of A.S. Klyucharev and N. G. Rakhlin, the 60th anniversary of A.I. Shutikov, the 70th anniversary of the Tatar State Philharmonia, meticulously selecting archival documents and photographic materials. We are collaborating with Idel and Kazan Magazines and different newspapers: articles of the museum's members about the Philharmonia's solo performers and new exhibit items of the museum are published on their pages from time to time.

From May 2006 the Philharmonia's museum together with the Art Department of the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan started the cycle of the Philharmonia's solo performers commemoration meetings "We Remember You..." (Iste, haman da iste...) confined to the 70th anniversary of the Philharmonia. Meetings were conducted in the reading room ("Grot") of the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan with the participation of artists of the Philharmonia and theatre, poets and writers of Tatarstan. This cycle attracted keen interest of spectators and response of the press. Members of the museum and the library, who prepared photographic, audio, and video materials for these meetings, and A.Khamzin, director and presenter of these meetings, familiarized listeners and spectators with works of forgotten but truly national singers.

The G.Tuqay Tatar State Philharmonia published a book "The G.Tuqay Tatar State Philharmonia (1937-2007)" dedicated to its 70th anniversary (authors: Apakova L., Gorshkov V., Kaveeva F., Kantor G., Mersiapova K., Sofiiskaya A., Khakimova A., Khalitova A., Khamzin A.). Archival materials of the Philharmonia, holdings of the National Library and the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan, personal memoirs and documents of artists, periodicals' articles were used for its publication. And with a view to the 75th anniversary of the Tatar State Philharmonia, the Philharmonia released MP-3 disk "Yellar, yullar, zhirlar..." complemented by various pictures from the museum's holding which includes records of famous masters of the arts of our concert organization.

During Philharmoniada International Art Festival the museum presents various static and temporary exhibits, which expose history, solo performers, and artistic groups of the festival, in the lobby of the concert hall.

The museum's members participate in anniversary and 'Evening With...' events of veterans of the stage. We also make visits and floral tribute to graves of passed away artists of the Philharmonia. Thus tie of generations is preserved. As we all know, there is no future without the past.

LIBRARY

 Library is not just a depository of the world wisdom, but an island of salvage in our vain time. There three holy professions on the earth: a teacher, a doctor, a librarian. A librarian, an unpretentious, intelligent person, an enthusiast who is endlessly single-hearted, is standing at the origins of wisdom, perception, and interest. A librarian is a keeper and a guide. Sometimes librarian's incident word can define predilection and devotion of your life, and occasionally even a choice of profession. A librarian teaches to think and to dream. This is a person everybody come to consult or just have a talk. Such kind of person was the first Philharmonia's librarian Lyudmila Vasilievna Plyusnina.

 From 1986 to 2000 the Philharmonia's library was headed by F. F. Kaveeva who previously had been working in V.I. Lenin Republican Research Library (now - the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan). She made necessary for each library main reference tools - alphabetical and systematic catalogues. 

The museum director A.A. Khakimova combined work in library in 2004 (and nowadays). From 2003 to 2010 H.G. Shaidullina was working in the Philharmonia's library.

From the first day of its establishment music library was gathering and still preserves handwritten music materials of Tatarstan's composers, many of which have signatures of S.Saidashev, A. Kluycharev, A. Bakirov, J. Faizi, R. Yakhin, N. Zhiganov and many other composers. It often happened that an author himself found the last copy of his music sheets remaining only in our library's holding. These facts underline a unique character of the Philharmonia's library holdings.

Worth recalling in this regard are the richest holdings of libraries of the State Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Tatarstan (independent from June 30, 2007) and the State Folk Orchestra of the Republic of Tatarstan. This is a huge reservoir of sheet music and orchestric voices composed by Tatar and Russian, Soviet and foreign composers. All these oeuvres were played by these orchestras on a concert stage.

 From the date of its foundation, the library of the State Folk Orchestra of the Republic of Tatarstan is headed by N. I. Kazakova.  

Librarians understand that qualitative performance of a composer's oeuvre by an orchestra depends on their care and precision. So many efforts, and patience, and skills should be applied when they did not have copying machines and scanners, and librarians had to rewrite sheet music and orchestric voices manually!

Though librarian's work is seemingly imperceptible, it is very laborious and time-consuming! Only true lovers of the profession and enthusiasts can work in a library. Sooner or later grain of truth and kindness give plants.
